Go on a journey back in time, and learn about the working and daily life of the workers, who toiled in Søby Brown Coal Field.
Through pictures, houses, tools and machinery, the museum depicts life in the “shanty town” of Søby from 1940 to 1970. It tells a unique story of the elite of the Danish workforce, who worked under horrible circumstances in the most dangerous workplace in all of Danish history.
In the entire Søby-area, there lived about 2.000 people (1.000 in the town of Søby), and they lived a life with sorrows, joys and a strong sense of community.
Experience cultural and natural history as well as worker- and industrial history from a dramatic time in Danish history.
