The Tar Ovens

Experience the Tar Ovens of Hesselvig Plantation - the only preserved tar ovens in Denmark

Step into a piece of history and visit the Tar Ovens of Hesselvig Plantation, near Skarrild and Deep Forest Art Land.

The Tar Ovens were used from around 1910 to shortly after the end of World War 2. They were used to extra wood tar, which was used to maintain woodwork or to proof fence posts or fishing nets.

By the ovens, you will find a roofed deck, under which you can enjoy a snack or packed lunch. It is an interesting stop along the way to Deep Forest Art Land.
