When Nature Becomes the Stage
For several seasons now, Holstebro Theater’s dance company has thrilled audiences with its outdoor dance performances along the west coast of Jutland, where wind, sand, and reeds become part of the stage.
This year, the company is exploring forests and meadows across the country. In *Deep Forest Art Land*, the trees, clearings, and works of art become part of the performance space, where the body, movement, and nature converge in a site-specific experience. Using their imagination as a starting point, the dancers create poetic images and abstract narratives among the forest’s trees and works of art. The audience gets up close to the dancers and experiences contemporary dance in a landscape where light, wind, and nature’s own rhythms become part of the choreography.
No performance is ever exactly the same. The venue, the weather, and the season all help shape the experience.
