The March of Darkness
FREE EXPERIENCE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY DURING THE FALL BREAK • WALK IN THE DARK – A luminous encounter between nature, art, and shadows. When darkness falls, the forest transforms. On Thursday, October 15, we invite you and your loved ones to an autumn evening at Deep Forest Art Land, where you yourselves will bring light into the darkness.
Into the Darkness
With lanterns to guide you, you make your way through the forest. All around you, the forest lies in its natural darkness, broken only by dramatic lighting effects at select locations.
You can choose which route to take. The northern route takes about 1 hour, while the southern route takes about 45 minutes. You can also walk both routes for a total hike of just under 2 hours.
All routes end at the Sculpture Cemetery. Here, the bonfire is burning, and we gather to warm ourselves, spend time together, and take part in small rituals. A shared conclusion to the Walk of Darkness—and a way of marking that we are entering the dark months together.

Time

6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
You can arrive at the parking lot between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. So you can decide for yourselves when within that time frame your hike will begin.
Arrival
At the parking lot, you’ll be welcomed by the elves of the night, who will help you get ready to venture into the forest.
Routes
Northern route: about 1 hour
Southern route: about 45 minutes
Both routes: just under 2 hours
Attire
We recommend wearing dark clothing—as dark as possible—but above all, just wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Upon arrival, the Elves of Darkness will help the whole family become part of the Walk of Darkness.
