Deep Forest Art Land is a living landscape where children can explore among trees, works of art, and stories. Here, the forest becomes a space for curiosity, movement, and shared experiences, where art and nature are experienced side by side.

A visit invites children to explore their surroundings with their bodies, senses, and imaginations. Along the way, questions arise, conversations unfold, and new perspectives on the world around us emerge. The artworks become not just something to look at, but something to experience, explore, and discuss together.

We welcome daycare centers, preschools, and after-school programs. Upon arrival, a guide will greet you and provide an introduction to the area, the art, and the practical details, so you’ll have the best possible start to your visit.

On this page, you can learn more about visit options, prices, practical information, and booking for daycare centers.

All visits are by appointment only.

Visiting Options

Why visit Deep Forest Art Land?

At Deep Forest Art Land, art is not experienced indoors, but in the heart of the landscape. The artworks become a natural part of the forest and the experiences that unfold along the way.

The visit invites children to ask questions, explore their surroundings, and discover new things using all their senses.

The forest provides a space for conversations, collaboration, and shared experiences that children and adults can enjoy together and look back on after their visit.

Responsibilities and Guidelines for the Visit

Deep Forest Art Land is not a playground or a fenced-off institutional area. Here, we move through a living landscape featuring works of art, forest trails, open forest clearings, and varied terrain. Attentive adults are therefore an important part of the experience—for the sake of the children, nature, and the works of art that we care for together.

A group of 15–20 children must be accompanied by at least 3 adults during the visit.

If a child needs comfort, help using the restroom, or a break along the way, it is important that adults remain present with the rest of the group. Having several adults also makes it possible to support the children’s curiosity and explorations in smaller groups.

Children must not walk alone in the area without supervision— please be aware that the trail crosses a stream and a public road.

Accessibility

Deep Forest Art Land is an open-air art landscape. We strive to ensure that as many people as possible can have a safe and enjoyable experience in the forest—regardless of their needs and circumstances.

Here you'll find information about terrain, routes, restroom facilities, rest stops, and other details that may be relevant before your visit.

Are you from the municipality of Herning?

Daycare centers in Herning Municipality can visit Deep Forest Art Land for free on select days and receive an introduction to the area upon arrival. Visits must be booked in advance.

In addition, during the spring and fall, daycare centers can use the Culture Bus, which makes it easier to take the children on outings to art and cultural experiences outside the center.

  • We recommend that you set aside between 2 and 4 hours for your visit.

A guided sensory tour typically lasts about 3 hours. On self-guided tours, you set your own pace and determine the length of your visit.

You are welcome to visit the forest during our opening hours, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Yes. There are several places where groups can eat their own packed lunches. You can also reserve a covered picnic area in the Gothic Quarter or the Sculpture Garden when you make your booking.

  • Yes. There are two composting toilets in the forest—one near the parking area and one near the Gothic Quarter.

Both have changing stations and are easily accessible for both strollers and wheelchairs.

  • Don't forget your packed lunch, water bottle, and clothes appropriate for the weather.

There is no place to refill water bottles, and the visit takes place outdoors year-round. We therefore recommend practical clothing and footwear so that children and adults can move freely through the forest.
