Thank you for visiting!
Find ways to help children reflect on their experiences in the forest back at preschool. This helps them remember, put into words, and share what they’ve experienced—including with their parents.
Start with a group discussion
Sit down together and talk about your walk in the woods.
Give the children time to reflect on and share their experiences.
For example, you can ask:
-
What do you remember from the forest?
-
Was there anything in particular that caught your attention?
-
How could you tell that it was spring?
There is no single right answer. The most important thing is that children have the opportunity to put their own experiences into words and listen to each other’s.
Coloring Pages
Download here: Coloring pages for preschool
A simple activity inspired by your experience in the forest. Print out as many coloring pages as you’d like featuring the Forest Snake, Thoreau’s Cabin, the Friendship Tree, and Produzione—all of which can be found in Nordskoven, where you went on your expedition.
The children decide for themselves:
-
what colors they use
-
what patterns they make
-
whether they want to draw animals, themselves, or something else entirely
There is no right or wrong result.
Reflections
We want the children to
- recalls what they have experienced
- will have the opportunity to put their experiences into words
- can express themselves at their own pace
- have something concrete to draw on and share with parents
Thanks for this time
We appreciate your enthusiasm and hope you'll want to visit us again at Deep Forest Art Land.
