The adventure begins as early as preschool—before you meet us in the forest—so please watch a short video and discuss some questions together. This activity can be done during circle time, in small groups, or on the floor with the children.
The goal is not to find the right answers, but to give the children a shared starting point before the visit, allowing them to observe nature, ask questions, and share their thoughts.
Duration: about 15 minutes.

Question
Have you ever been to a forest?
What do you think you can find in a forest?
What do you like about nature?
How do you become friends with nature?
Educational Considerations
-
At Deep Forest Art Land, we take a sensory and exploratory approach to learning.
When the children watch the video and discuss the questions together, the expedition begins right in preschool. The conversation gives the children a chance to share their thoughts, ask questions, and listen to each other’s ideas.
There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is to draw the children’s attention to nature and spark their curiosity about what they will later experience in the forest.
When children encounter art and nature at Deep Forest Art Land, their exploration continues through the senses, movement, and shared experiences. In this way, learning becomes a process in which experience, conversation, and curiosity are intertwined.
Now you're ready for the expedition!
REMEMBER
- We're outside all day—dressed for the weather
- a packed lunch and a full water bottle (there’s no place to refill your water in the forest)
