Spacegirls
Spacegirls is an architecture practice founded by Cisse Bomholt and Elisabeth Gellein in 2016. Over the past decade, the Danish-Norwegian duo has built a body of work that operates at the intersection of architecture, art, and research. Their projects are based on site-specific, slow, and material-exploratory methods—an intersectional feminist approach in which the scale of the built environment is small, while the time horizon and the list of collaborators are typically long. This approach has resulted in site-specific architecture with sensory and ornamental qualities and an aesthetic that blends craftsmanship with pop culture. In recent years, they have focused particularly on language as a world-shaper, exploring whether a shift in the architect’s language can also change the way we build and live.
