Artistic Practice
Hannah Amalie Nielsen works at the intersection of performance, textiles, and sculpture. Drawing inspiration from mythology, folk tales, and close-knit communities, she creates sensory works in which materials, stories, and people are connected in new ways.
Collaboration is a central part of her practice. Among other things, she is a member of the artist collective HÅM alongside Åse Eg Jørgensen and Mette Damm, and she collaborates with ceramicist Charlotte Nielsen on the MorMor project.
Her works often draw inspiration from the history and identity of a place. She works with textiles, symbols, songs, and ancient craft traditions, and freely experiments with materials such as recycled textiles, glass, and living fungal mycelia.
